  • Formulating patient management plans based on findings.

  • Airway Management using Oral and Nasal Airways, Supraglottic Airways, and intubation [if compliant].

  • Management of choking/airway obstruction

  • Use of Oxygen for oxygen therapy, to drive a nebuliser and in resuscitation.

  • Advanced Life Support – cardiac arrest management using airway adjuncts, oxygen, defibrillator, and cardiac arrest drugs.

  • Management of Asthma using oxygen and nebulised medications – Salbutamol and Ipratropium Bromide

  • Management of Diabetes using medications – GlucoGel and Glucagon

  • Management of Anaphylactic Reactions – use of oxygen, nebulised medications, and IM injection of Adrenaline.

  • Management of a range of medical emergencies, including treatment with a larger selection of drug therapy than a technician can use – E.g., Diazepam

  • Recognition of the critically unwell patient

  • Management of Trauma – using basic ambulance skills (oxygen, splints, spinal immobilisation, etc)

  • Management of Catastrophic Haemorrhage

  • Management of mental health emergency

  • Reversal of opiate OD with IM Naloxone

  • Pregnancy & childbirth

  • Paediatric emergencies – illness & trauma

  • Penthox analgesia administration [with prior training]

Paramedics

  • Management of Anaphylactic Reactions – use of oxygen, nebulised medications, and IM injection of Adrenaline.

  • Management of a range of medical emergencies where technicians cannot provide drug therapy e.g., Seizures.

  • Recognition of the critically unwell patient

  • Management of Trauma – using basic ambulance skills (oxygen, splints, spinal immobilisation, etc)

  • Management of mental health emergency

Technicians

  • Recording ECG – 3 & 12 Lead (not interpretation).

  • Further training and practice regarding immediate life support, using airways and oxygen in resuscitation.

  • Technician-level trauma management skills

  • Use of splints, scoop stretcher, spinal immobilisation, etc

  • Management of mental health emergency

  • Basic management of paediatric emergency

  • Basic pregnancy and childbirth

  • Penthox analgesia administration [with prior training]

Advanced Responders

  • Basic history taking
